The USA promotes wind power plants in other countries, while the country does not use them, as Dmitriy Zhuk, editor-in-chief of the media outlet Belarus Segodnya says. The Weekly Top Fake team fact-checked his claim.

The claim about USA promoting the worldwide introduction of wind farms was discussed in the Belarusian state TV program Editors Club on March 23, 2024.

“No matter how many stories we watched about the USA, we did not see such wonderful landscapes with wind farms there as in the Netherlands. There are not! Not! Why not? Because, from my point of view, again, this is a kind of well-thought-out scam, a fight against competitors. So they imposed expensive, a priori expensive electriciс energy on Europe,” Dmitry Zhuk claims.

His statement is fake. There are quite a lot of landscapes with wind plants in the USA.

Here is the photo of the Alta Wind Energy Center in California, the largest onshore wind project in the United States.

And the next one is a wind farm in San Gorgonio Pass, also in California.

Texas is also able to boast of its wind plants; it has the second-largest wind farm in the country.

In the Global ranking of wind energy-producing countries, the USA ranks second.

And China is in first place. It accounts for 40% of the world's wind power on land, and 50% — at sea.
