“ISIS Could Not Carry Out Terrorist Attacks During Holy Ramadan”. Political Scientist Elfimov’s Claim Fact-Checked

At least two more terrorist attacks occurred that month.

Fake appearance date: 26.03.2024
Since Ramadan runs from March 11 to April 9, 2024, Muslims cannot be involved in the concert venue Crocus City Hall terrorist attack. Political scientist Vadim Elfimov called the fact of Ramadan as proof of ISIS’s innocence. The Weekly Top Fake team figured out why his statement was false.

The terrorist attack at the Moscow concert venue was not the work of Muslims, Vadim Elfimov said on Radio Minsk on March 26, 2024.

“And now there is an attempt to say — what they want to say —  that this is ISIS. Excuse me, ISIS members, of course, are not the best Muslims. They belong to a very militant branch. But none of them would carry out a terrorist attack during Ramadan”, the political scientist said.

The Weekly Top Fake team verified his statement and found no evidence to support it.

In 2016, two Muslims went on a shooting spree near the Sarona indoor market in Tel Aviv. Four people died. That happened on June 8th, during Ramadan, which began on June 6 and ended on July 5, 2016.

At least two more terrorist attacks occurred that month. On June 12, an ISIS supporter carried out a shooting with 49 deaths at a gay club in Orlando, Florida. On July 3, there were two explosions in Baghdad, killing 23 people. ISIS claimed responsibility.

Also in 2016, an audio message had been circulating on social media calling on Islamic State supporters to carry out terrorist attacks everywhere, especially in Europe and the United States. Ramadan had been called the month of conquest and jihad. Intelligence agencies assume that it is traced to ISIS.

The Islamic State (ISIS) organization is recognized as a terrorist in the EU, USA, Russia and many other countries worldwide.
