The Border Committee has just summed up the results of the first month of visa-free travel for Polish citizens. In July, 2.224 Poles visited Belarus. The average is 75 people a day. There are currently two border crossings between Belarus and Poland. So, roughly speaking, 35-40 Poles pass through each of them every day.
Interestingly, the capacity of the Berestavitsa border crossing point is 900 passenger cars, the Brest border crossing point — 1.700 passenger cars a day in one direction. In other words, 2,600 incoming cars can be handled by the two border crossing points without any problems. And those 75 Poles couldn’t have caused such a massive jam there, which STV reports.
We also compared the interest in the Belarusian visa-free regime by Poles and residents of Lithuania and Latvia. For the Baltics, it started working on 15 April. In the first month of visa-free travel, as many as 22.500 Lithuanians visited Belarus, which is 10 times more than Poles. And almost 13 thousand Latvian residents, which is 6 times more than Poles.
