Is every other TV set in Russia made by Horizont? Yes, but there’s a catch

We analyzed the data to find out which TV brands Russian consumers are buying.

Horizont TVs account for half the Belarusian and Russian markets, said Yuri Predko, Director General of the Horizont Group managing company, on CTV. Weekly Top Fake journalists discovered that the claim doesn’t refer to domestically made tech at all.

On CTV, on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of Alexander Lukashenko's first inauguration as president, they discussed the successes of Belarusian industry, particularly the electronics sector. Yuri Predko, Director General of the Horizont Group managing company, stated that the enterprise produces more televisions "than the maximum capacity during the Soviet Union."

"Every other TV we see on store shelves in Belarus, Russia, and other countries is produced by us," Predko said on July 20 in an episode of "Week."

Theoretically, Horizont's products could occupy half the shelves in Belarusian stores. According to recommendations from the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, domestic goods must be represented on retail space equal to imported goods. According to Belstat data, three out of four TVs purchased in Belarus in 2024 were of foreign origin.

As for Russia, the HORIZONT brand is not among the leaders in TV sales. At the same time, the holding's products occupy 48% of the Russian market, as reported by Forbes in July 2025. However, this refers not to technology under the Belarusian manufacturer's brand, but to "50 TV brands, including Dexp, Harper, Hartens." For example, the Belarusian holding Horizont manufactures a line of Skyworth TV sets for the Russian market on its production lines. Yevgeny Shandabylo, director of the Horizont plant, confirmed it last summer:

"Skyworth has for years used the plant’s production lines to make electronics under its own brand. The TVs are built from original components under the customer’s strict oversight and in line with all of the company’s manufacturing standards. Potential TV output is projected at about 200,000 units in 2025."

Starting in August 2025, the holding plans to assemble TV sets under the TV Station brand for Yandex.

How profitable this assembly will be is unknown; the company does not publish financial statements.
